Wolves

We did not have any wild wolves in Germany for a hundred years. You only met them in fairy tales like „Little Red Riding Hood“.

In former times people hunted wolves, because they sometimes eat sheep and other farm animals. The farmers were very angry and hated the wolves.

Wolves are predators. That means, they kill other animals and eat them. Their favourite food are deer, hares, rabbits and wild boars.

Wolves have very good senses: They hear and smell very well. They can run very fast and long distances. The wolves live and hunt in groups. This group is called a pack.

The young wolves and their parents live together in a pack. Sometimes they are howling together. This is how they show, where they are.
